Valinor (comics)

Valinor is a fictional character in the Marvel Universe. He served as a steed of the Black Knight after he had given his previous steed Aragorn to the Valkyrie.

Fictional character biography

Valinor is a magically enhanced horse from the extra-dimensional realm of Avalon. In the 12th Century, Valinor carried the Black Knight into battle against Balor and the Fomor alongside the Avengers; Valinor then accompanied the Black Knight on his return to 20th Century Earth.^[1] Valinor later fell ill due to the spell that gave him his wings; he was cured by Doctor Strange, but lost his wings in the process.^[2] Valinor's wings were later restored magically, and he carried the Black Knight possessed by the spirit of the original Black Knight into battle against Morgan Le Fay, Mordred, Dreadknight, Balor, and celtic demons alongside Victoria Bentley/Valkyrie, Captain Britain, Sean Dolan, and Doctor Strange.^[3] Valinor later carried the Black Knight into battle against the Swordsman and Magdalene; he was shot down by a power beam but rescued by Thor (Eric Masterson).^[4]

Valinor later came into the possession of the Blood Wraith, and carried the Blood Wraith into battle against the Black Knight and the Avengers.^[5]

Marvel U.K.

Valinor also carried the Black Knight and Captain Britain on various adventures chronicled in Marvel U.K. titles which took place between the Black Knight's return to the 20th Century in Avengers #226 and the events of Doctor Strange Vol. 2 #68.

Powers and abilities

Valinor is a horse that benefits from a magical enchantment by a spell cast by Amergin, mage of Avalon, which provides him with an above normal intelligent for an equine, and the ability to fly using his large bat-like wings. Thanks to a mystical rapport with the Ebony Blade, Valinor also has an excellent rapport with his master, enabling him to understand and obey complex commands.

Valinor is an experienced battle steed on land and aloft.
